Our new favorite place to go to linger over a good cup of coffee, a baked good, and our weekend reading material of choice, is thankfully only about 5 blocks away from our apartment. With the friendly and familiar girls behind the counter, the unintimidating but completely delicious selections of pies, cookies and pastries that your grandma might have made for you back in the day, and the audible coffee buzz of all the happy patrons, it’s the perfect start to a day.

Niche shops and restaurants continue to open up off of the L’s Graham stop, and we couldn’t be happier about it! We tried out a new one for brunch this morning that specializes in waffles wrapped around all things delicious. Mine featured corn (baked in), caramelized onions, fresh salsa and cheddar, but I preferred my husband’s buckwheat waffle with bacon (baked in), cheddar, arugula, tomato, and avocado yogurt. It was the perfect combination of textures and savory flavors. Looking forward to returning to try out their selections on the sweeter side of the spectrum.

I visited the Dekalb Market in Downtown Brooklyn with friends this afternoon (Hi Cori and Hadas!). The market is home to ‘Makers, Artists, Farmers and Chefs,’ all ready to do business from within their own salvaged shipping container. Thinking I might have to go back to check out the Brooklyn Night Bazaar happening there this Sunday…
We decided to take a break from wedding planning to enjoy (what turned into) Sunday Funday! We very much enjoyed drinking our Smuttynose Pumpkin Ales while being regaled with the musical stylings of The Cangelosi Cards. They play at Harefield Road, our neighborhood favorite, every Sunday evening.

Our friends invited us out to Isa this evening, the newest restaurant from the people behind Freemans. Currently the tasting menu for dinner is the only option, but a very good one. We enjoyed the thoughtfully simple and rustic courses along with our own BYOB pairings.

We stopped into the newly opened Meatball Shop for dinner this evening. Their menu allows you to customize everything from your meatballs, to your ice cream cookie sandwich, to your cocktail! Their puns on ‘balls’ are also very entertaining…

Irene seems to be the most talked about girl in Brooklyn at the moment, albeit not the most popular one. For now, all is calm on Williamsburg’s East River waterfront even with the mandatory evacuation of approximately 300,000 New Yorkers taking place - a first in this city’s history. Hoping she comes and goes much quieter than expected…
It had been awhile since my fiancé and I had tried out a new restaurant in the neighborhood, so we decided to bike around until we found something that looked fun. We ended up at this little French place on Grand. We especially enjoyed bonding with the owner over the goat cheese we were served for dessert.
